Workshop Presented for the Future of Publishing Online Conference
As digital advancements in AI, robotics, and digital media saturate our lives, the natural human tendency will be to seek out and embrace humanity. As this happens, authors poised to present at events will have an advantage not only over technology, but authors who aren’t embracing the real world.
The question is: how can authors engage readers through memorable author events?
Desireé Duffy presented a workshop on this topic for the Future of Publishing Online Conference. In it, she offered ideas to maximize live and virtual public appearances. Topics included how to attract attendees, marketing advice, and she gave tips for promotional tactics.
Attendees discovered how to successfully launch books through event marketing. They also got the lowdown on book signings and the truth about what it takes to experience the dream of sitting by that stack of books and autographing one’s masterpiece for eager readers.
In addition to Black Château, other presenters included BookBub, BookBrush, BookVault, Draft2Digital, Future Fiction Academy, Geniuslink, Indie Author Magazine, Kickstarter, Kobo, Plottr, PublishDrive, Reedsy, The Writing Wives, and Written Word Media.
