Black Château Goes Virtual with the Annual Greater Los Angeles Writer’s Conference

As a Proud Sponsor for the 4th Year in a Row, Black Château Brings Authors and Experts to the West Coast Writer’s Conference

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Los Angeles, CA – Black Château Enterprises presents two panel discussions at the annual Greater Los Angeles Writers Conference scheduled for August 7 – 15, 2020. The conference is being held virtually.

According to conference organizers Tony and Lilly Todaro, “In view of the pandemic and out of an abundance of caution for the health and safety of you, our speakers, attendees, and staff, the conference was migrated to a unique virtual environment. Instead of offering three to four concurrent tracks, the panels, workshops and solo presentations have been reorganized into a consecutive logical sequence over a week’s time from August 7-15. This means that attendees can enjoy the entire event and not miss invaluable presentations.”

The first of the Black Château panels, Getting Ghosted, takes place Saturday August 8 at 12:45pm Pacific Time. It is a conversation that explores what ghostwriters actually do and is designed to help writers understand the process to see if it might be right for them.

It features Bill Hayes and Jennifer Thomas, a powerful publishing duo whose involvement in a cross-section of fields has garnered them the opportunity to coauthor a slate of heavy-hitting titles, garnering awards and recognition for themselves and their clients:

  • Bill Hayes, bestselling author and ghostwriter with a gift for adding historical context and artistic flair to any subject
  • Jennifer Thomas, award-winning author, editor, designer and publisher

Black Château will present its second panel, This Is Your Brain on Speculative Fiction – Why Do People Read and Write This Stuff? on Friday, August 14 at 6:15pm Pacific Time. This panel is an exploration of the psychology and allure of speculative fiction. Several writers and experts will delve into the reasons speculative fiction stimulates our minds and morality, they include:

  • Scott Brody, author of political thriller The Org, radio station manager and political activist
  • Raye Mitchell, JD, MBA, Boss Girl and Chief Content Officer, The Genius Agency, Inc.
  • Edgar Scott, economist turned computer scientist, futurist, and author of the forthcoming 418: I Am a Teapot
  • Ryan Southwick, author of The Z-Tech Chronicles and software developer in 3-D gaming and mission-critical business applications for the medical industry
  • Lon Varnadore, author of Junker Blues, Mostly Human and other sci-fi and fantasy fiction

Both panels will be moderated by Desireé Duffy, Founder of Black Château Enterprises, Books That Make You, LA BookFest and Lead Organizer for TEDxResedaBlvd. Duffy will also moderate the Self & Indie-Publishing: Is Now the Time for You to Shine panel on Saturday August 15 at 10:00am Pacific Time.

Dr. Raye Mitchell is also presenting a solo spotlight titled: Writing in the Age of Reckoning with Race and Racism in America on Wednesday, August 12 at 8:45pm Pacific Time.

Regarding the upcoming conference Duffy says, “These relevant and timely topics are important to discuss. I am happy to collaborate with Tony Todaro and the West Coast Writers Conference team as they always do a fantastic job of creating informative events for the writing community. Bringing the conference online is an excellent idea and this helps broaden the reach of this important writing conference.”
